After a day dodging rain showers whilst visiting Sandown and Shanklin on the Isle of Wight, we decided to end the day by driving up to Culver Down and taking in the views. Pulling into one of the car parks there, it was clear that a substantial rain shower was closing in fast.
This photo of the rain over Sandown was one of several I took in the time I had. As the rain began to fall harder, I ran back to the car and took refuge. Within a couple of minutes of this image being taken the deluge began, and the view range closed to a few hundred meters, totally hiding Sandown and Shanklin from sight. We were dry in the car, however it was hard not to feel some sympathy for the people having walking on the cliff path below us.
