Rye Bay as the sun rises

Rye Bay

A view across Rye Bay looking towards Camber Sands and Dungeness taken at sunrise.

Large stretches of the land here are designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. The erosion and deposits over the centuries have created an area rich with saline lagoons, shingle banks and sand dunes. It is ideal land for a variety of migratory birds. It’s also home to a Nuclear Power Plant.

The scallops caught in the bay are celebrated in Rye Bay Scallop Week, that started this year 0n 2nd February and will end on Sunday the 10th February.
